A very fine and rare pair of early George III Wine Coasters made in London in 1764 by Edward Aldridge.
176432
The Coasters are circular in form with wavy dipping gadrooned rims. The sides are beautifully pierced with bold scroll work and the front displays a shaped cartouche engraved with a Crest with initials below. Each piece is marked in the piercing and they have their original fruit wood bases. Coasters were first introduced into England during the 1760s therefore these represent a rare early example, made in a most beautiful style.
