A rare & unusual George IV 'Leaf' Caddy Spoon made in London in 1822, makers Mark of a 'W'.

The Caddy Spoon is modelled in an unusual leaf form with a serrated edge and raised vein work, all on a matted ground. This example also has a plain short Old English pattern handle, which displays crisp hallmarks. We have been unable to find this design in all of our Caddy spoon references, which emphasises its unusual design. We have also been unable to ascertain who the maker is, however we know that William Wardell, a known Caddy Spoon maker, was using a single W mark and it may have been that he sent some spoons for assay in London at this date.

Length: 3 inches, 7.5 cm.
