A rare Queen Anne 'Obrisset' Snuff Box made in London circa 1710 by John Obrisset.

The Box is oval in form with a tortoiseshell base, silver sides and hinge. The cover is inset with a detailed pressed tortoiseshell portrait, in profile, of King Charles I in armour. The top is signed OB for John Obrisset, who was of Huguenot descent, and a specialist carver and medalist. He worked in silver, horn and tortoiseshell and specialised in Snuff Boxes with portraits in relief. This piece is in excellent condition and a near identical example is shown on page 108 of British Silver Boxes 1640-1840, The Lion Collection.
