A rare pair of George III 'Double Duty' Salt Cellars made in Sheffield in 1797 by Thomas Watson & Company.

The Salt Cellars are modelled in the very unusual Tub form with inset carrying handles and gadrooned borders. The side of the main body is engraved with a set of contemporary script initials and the bases display a full set of marks, including the double duty mark, where the Kings Head appears twice. This is only ever seen in 1797. A very rare design, with a very rare set of hallmarks, displaying fine interior gilding.
