A rare George IV Wine Label made in Glasgow in 1829 by Robert Gray & Sons.
230812
The Label is modelled in a rare style which was peculiar to the workshops of Robert Gray. The label is of the die stamped variety, with a shaped border, decorated above with vine leaves and grapes, and at the bottom with a Rococo shell, flanked by scrolls. This example is very well marked and is engraved for MADEIRA. A near identical example, engraved for Hollands, is shown on page 257 of Wine Labels 1730-2003.
