A rare George III silver mounted Cowrie Shell Snuff Box made in Birmingham in 1805 by Joseph Taylor.
221385
The beautifully shaded Cowrie shell displays plain silver mounts and the hinged cover is engraved with an outer Greek key border, concealed hinge, and central vacant shield shaped cartouche. This piece is in excellent condition and is very well marked. These boxes were usually made in London and to find a Birmingham made example is most unusual.
