A rare George III silver gilt Travelling Set made in London in 1817/1818 by William Eley & William Fearn
135353
This set consists of a knife, spoon and fork and displays beautiful original gilding. It is modelled in a variation of the Kings Pattern called Shell and Laurel, which incorporates a shell at the top, a more elaborate honeysuckle device in the centre of the stem, and laurel decoration on the lower stems. This was a magnificent pattern which was first produced, as one might expect, by the great Paul Storr. Examples are almost impossible to find.
