A rare and exceptionally fine George III Tobacco Box made, most probably, in London circa 1790.

The Box is of a large size and is oval in form with a plain body. The slightly domed hinged cover displays a reeded edge and the centre is engraved with the contemporary script initials WD. The base is also engraved with R Cattle and it is thought that this relates to the prolific York silversmith, Robert Cattle. The box is in excellent condition, is of a very fine gauge, and has a good colour.
