A rare 'Acorn' Serving Slice made in London in 1798 by John Emes.

This attractive piece displays a blade modelled to simulate an acorn, with a band of pierced foliate motifs. The blade is also engraved with herring bone bands and a contemporary anchor Crest, with the Motto 'You May Trust to Me' engraved on a banner below. The Crest is surrounded by a floral and foliate cartouche, with crossed branches above. The reverse is also engraved with a finely detailed thistle Crest, with the motto 'Ye Mauna Forget', engraved on a banner below. The slice has an Old English Thread pattern handle. The slice is in excellent condition and is very well marked. Acorn Slices are rare and were usually made in the workshops of John Emes.
