A pair of George III Salt Cellars made in London in 1802 by Peter & Ann & William Bateman.


The Salts stand on a square pedestal foot and the main body is Boat shaped in form. Both the rim and harp shaped handles are decoarted with reeding and the front is engraved with a contemporary script initial. The interiors are gilded and the base of the foot displays a crisp set of hallmarks. Peter, Ann and William Bateman were only in partnership from 1801-1805, therefore examples of their work is relatively limited.
