A good William IV Purse Vinaigrette made in Birmingham in 1834 by Thomas Shaw.
233113
The cover is realistically modelled to simulate the design of a purse and is unusually engraved all over the cover with four leaf clovers. The base is engraved with a floral spray and feather edge borders. The interior is finely gilded and the grille is pierced and engraved with pluming scrolls and a central flower head. This example is well marked on the cover, base and underside of the grille.
