The Salts are boat shaped in form with a oval pedestal foot which is decorated with reeding. Both have a gadrooned rim, fine interior gilding and a set of contemporary initials engraved on the front of the main body. One Salt Cellar was made in London in 1796 by Henry Chawner and John Emes and the other was made in Edinburgh circa 1797 by William & Patrick Cunningham.
