A fine pair of George II Cast Candlesticks made in London in 1746 by Simon Jouet.

The Candlesticks are cast and have shaped bases with a raised reeded circular section, where the base meets the stem. The baluster stems and sockets are also decoarted with reeding. Both have shaped detachable nozzles and are well marked in the bases. Simon Jouet was a specialist Candlestick maker of fine quality. Jouet was apprenticed to Thomas Folkingham, also another candlestick maker. He was of Huguenot descent and became a member of the Honourable Artillery Company, 10th January 1749.
