A fine George III Snuff Box made in London in 1803 by John Allen IV & Joshua Butler.
362921
This very fine Snuff Box has an unusual small size and slender form and was most probably for the use of a Lady. It is engraved all over with crisp square panels of basket weave design containing flower head motifs. Each end is engraved with trellis work and this piece displays a raised thumb piece. The interior is very well marked and displays its original gilding. Allen & Butler had workshops at 10, Bridgwater Gardens and their mark is usually found on snuff boxes and vinaigrettes of very fine quality.
