A fine George III 'Purse' Vinaigrette made in London in 1816 by William Elliott.

The Vinaigrette is broad rectangular in form and the cover is realistically modelled to simulate the cover of a purse, with fastening clasp. Both the cover, base and sides are beautifully decorated with floral and foliate designs and trellis work. The interior displays fine gilding and a grille pierced and engraved with foliate motifs and flower heads.
