A fine George II Mug made in London in 1749 by Thomas Cooke II & Richard Gurney.

The Mug is of the plain baluster style, with an everted rim. This piece stands on a spreading circular foot decorated with reeded bands and has a plain scroll handle. The base is engraved with a contemporary inscription, The Gift of Mrs Hardinge to I & C H, which leads us to believe that it might have been a wedding gift. This piece is of an excellent guage and is very well marked.

Height: 4.75 inches, 11.88cm.

Diameter of the base: 3.6 inches, 9cm

Weight: 14oz
