A fine George I Coffee Pot made in London in 1725 by John Gorsuch

The Coffee Pot is plain in design with straight tapering sides and displays a reeded spreading foot. The high domed hinged cover, terminates in a cast bell finial and the beautifully shaped, faceted, spout terminates in a stylised birds head design. The Coffee Pot has an excellent colour and is fully marked on the base and with the sterling mark on the cover. John Gorsuch was apprentice to John Smith and was Free by 1725, therefore this represents an early example of his work. He had workshops in Little Eastcheap when this piece was made.
