A fine and unusual George III Tubular Nutmeg Grater made in London circa 1780 by Thomas Phipps & Edward Robinson.
291574
The Nutmeg Grater is of the tubular form and is plain in design. The oval reeded hinged cover opens up so that the steel grater may be exposed. The nutmeg could then be kept safe inside the tube. This example is unusually small and may be a rare childs grater. It is marked with the crisp makers mark of the famous box makers, Phipps & Robinson.
