A beautiful pair of George III antique silver Wine Coasters made in London in 1783 by William Abdy.

These beautiful wine coasters are circular in form with dipping rims decorated with beading. The sides are pierced, and engraved, with an upper and lower band of bluebell drops, as well as Neo Classical urns in ovals. These ovals are flanked by engraved foliate sprigs and the front displays a bright cut circular cartouche engraved with a contemporary Crest. Both pieces stand on a stepped reeded base and they are inset with their original turned fruitwood bases. The Coasters are in excellent condition and are fully marked on the bases. William Abdy was a specialist pierced worker who produced, very fine wine coasters, salt cellars, baskets and mustard pots during this period.
